About Us

Pioneering Black Soldier Fly welfare science, micro-climate telemetry, and humane rearing protocols in the Global South.

EntoMetrics Africa is an independent, non-profit research institution headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

Our Mission

To reduce systemic welfare risks in insect bioconversion systems by equipping the Global South’s alternative protein sector with empirical biological insights, localised hardware telemetry and scientifically validated production frameworks.

Our Vision

A global agricultural paradigm where invertebrate welfare is fundamentally integrated into industrial production, establishing resource-efficient protein systems that respect the physiological boundaries of the billions of organisms within them.

Approach

Three pillars

  1. Insect welfare science

Empirical research on how larvae experience heat, handling and slaughter.

  2. Micro-climate telemetry

Low-cost, offline-capable substrate monitoring for tropical farms.

  3. Humane production standards

Evidence to inform practical rules for producers and standard-setters.

    Independent Scientific and Data Advisor

PhD candidate in Biological Sciences (IBR, CONICET-UNR) and co-founder of Agrosintex. Advises independently; protocols are pre-specified and scoring is blinded.

Year 1 governance
In Year 1 the scientific advisor acts strictly independently. Assay protocols and the statistical analysis plan are pre-specified before data collection, video scoring is blinded, and the advisor reviews the final analysis.
